More information
We work with a variety of manuscript types—from scientific and social science papers to press releases and doctoral theses. We edit in American and British English and are familiar with different style manuals, including Chicago, APA, and AP.
We fix typographical and mechanical errors and other mistakes that may have been missed during the copyediting stage to ensure that there are absolutely no errors. We also check for formatting issues and offer design and layout suggestions.
We verify the accuracy of content. While there is some overlap between fact-checkers and copyeditors, as fact-checkers we do not make editorial changes. We are responsible for verifying the wider factual accuracy of a manuscript.
We focus on higher-levels edits around content, organization, and tone. Substantive editing involves more significant changes to the manuscript, with the aim to support the author in delivering clear and concise prose to the intended audience.
“George did an impressive job on the journal articles that I asked him to edit for me. The changes were made without distorting the meaning of the sentences, and his suggestions for revisions were always very helpful and effective. Since I am not a native English speaker, George's editing greatly improved the articles' readability and flow. His feedback was provided in a quick and efficient manner. I cannot recommend George enough!”

"George has helped me edit several documents over the years, the most important being my PhD research proposal. I greatly appreciate his support in improving the language, structure, and flow of the proposal, as well as his suggestions for condensing it; all of this he did in a respectful and professional manner. Of course, I was accepted by the university! George is a highly organized and detail-oriented editor. In addition to his sound copyediting skills, he adds significant value to the manuscript’s content through his thoughtful comments and queries."

“George is not only a gifted editor, but a highly skilled, creative writer with years of experience working on a variety of research and communications projects. It is through his meticulous attention to detail — combined with an uncanny ability to translate my most scattered thoughts into eloquent, cohesive ideas — that I have crafted my best work. George is humble, articulate, and driven — capable of alleviating any writer’s frustrations or qualms, all the while instilling invaluable lessons throughout the process. And I am undoubtedly a better writer today because of him.”
